Q8 Interview Q1 Story / Example Speaking Interview
Thank you for participating in this study. Today I'd like to ask you some questions about public parks and recreational spaces. First, can you tell me about a memorable visit you or a friend made to a park or recreational space and what made it special?

C1-C2 Sample Answer
CEFR C1-C2 target
  • State the habit or experience directly, then add a reflective reason.
  • Use pauses after contrast markers such as although, not simply, and rather than.
A memorable park visit was a picnic with friends after exams. The park had open grass, trees, and a quiet path near a lake. What made it special was the feeling of finally relaxing outside after spending so much time indoors studying. The visit was memorable because the park offered psychological spaciousness, which is rare after intense study.

I see. Do you think public parks and recreational spaces are more important for adults or for children? Why?

C1-C2 Sample Answer

  • Compare options naturally instead of listing them mechanically.
  • Stress the phrase that shows preference or priority.
I think parks are important for both adults and children, but in different ways. Children need places to play safely and develop social skills. Adults need parks for exercise, stress relief, and a break from crowded buildings. So parks serve the whole community. Parks serve different age groups by supporting play, recovery, and informal community life at the same time.

Q10 Interview Q3 Opinion Speaking Interview
Interesting. Some people believe that public parks play a crucial role in promoting community health and well-being by offering outdoor areas for relaxing and exercising or playing, and therefore local governments should spend more money on such places. What are your thoughts on this? Do you agree or disagree? Why?

  • Build a short narrative or hypothetical with a clear cause-and-effect line.
  • Segment the response into choice, reason, and consequence.
I agree that local governments should spend money on parks because they are public health spaces, not just decoration. A good park gives residents a place to walk, exercise, and meet neighbors. This can reduce stress and make a city feel more livable. Government spending is justified because parks function as preventive health infrastructure, not optional decoration.

Good points. Finally, in many large cities there is a tension between building more public parks for residents to relax and play versus using the space to build more housing. Do you think the need for more housing is more or less important than the need for public parks and recreational spaces? Why?

C1-C2 Sample Answer
CEFR C1-C2 target
  • Give a nuanced position with concession before your main argument.
  • Use intonation to signal contrast, qualification, and final judgment.
Housing is extremely important, but I do not think cities should sacrifice all park space for buildings. Dense cities need green areas precisely because people live in small apartments. The best solution is careful planning, such as building housing near transportation while protecting essential public parks. The real challenge is balancing housing with livable density, so cities do not solve one problem by worsening another.
