Q8 Interview Q1 Opinion Speaking Interview
Thank you for helping with our study. I'd like to ask you some questions about your job satisfaction. First, what do you think are the most important things to consider when looking for a job?
🎧 Question Audio
C1-C2 Sample Answer
CEFR C1-C2 target
  • State the habit or experience directly, then add a reflective reason.
  • Use pauses after contrast markers such as although, not simply, and rather than.
When looking for a job, I think people should consider salary, growth opportunities, and the work environment. Salary matters because people need stability, but it should not be the only factor. A job with respectful coworkers and chances to learn can be much more satisfying over time. The strongest jobs combine material security with a sense that the work is developing you rather than draining you.

Got it, that's helpful. Now, can you describe a job that either you or one of your friends has had? What kind of work was involved?

C1-C2 Sample Answer
CEFR C1-C2 target
  • Compare options naturally instead of listing them mechanically.
  • Stress the phrase that shows preference or priority.
One of my friends worked part-time in a cafe. The job involved taking orders, preparing drinks, cleaning tables, and dealing with customers during busy hours. It sounded tiring, but she said it helped her become faster, more patient, and more comfortable talking to strangers. That kind of service work requires emotional composure, because employees must stay polite even when customers are impatient.

  • Build a short narrative or hypothetical with a clear cause-and-effect line.

People often feel unhappy at work when they feel ignored or stuck. If managers never listen, employees may stop caring. Another problem is doing the same task every day without learning anything new, because people want to feel that their effort is leading somewhere. Unhappiness often comes from a lack of agency, when people feel they have effort but no influence.

Great. And finally, some people believe that working for a large company offers more advantages than working for a small company, while others prefer the opposite. What do you think and why?

C1-C2 Sample Answer
CEFR C1-C2 target
  • Give a nuanced position with concession before your main argument.
  • Use intonation to signal contrast, qualification, and final judgment.
I think large and small companies offer different advantages. A large company may provide training, stability, and clear promotion paths. A small company may offer more responsibility and closer relationships. Personally, I would choose based on the team and role rather than the size alone. Company size matters less than organizational culture, because a good team can make either environment satisfying.
