Speaking Interview Questions
These are the interview-style follow-up prompts at the end of the speaking paper.
Q8 Interview Q1 Habit / Background Speaking Interview
Thank you for agreeing to participate. I'd like to ask you some questions about your health and wellness habits. First, do you have any specific routines or practices you use to maintain your physical well-being? If So, what are they?
🎧 Question Audio
C1-C2 Sample Answer
CEFR C1-C2 target
  • State the habit or experience directly, then add a reflective reason.
  • Use pauses after contrast markers such as although, not simply, and rather than.
Yes, I try to maintain my physical health through a few simple routines. I walk whenever the distance is reasonable, drink water instead of sweet drinks most of the time, and stretch before bed. None of these habits is dramatic, but together they keep me from feeling stiff or low on energy. What makes these routines sustainable is that they are small enough to repeat consistently rather than impressive for only a week.
C1-C2 key phrases to imitate
  • small enough to repeat consistently
  • in practical terms
  • as a regular part of my routine
  • a few simple routines
  • whenever the distance is reasonable
  • most of the time
  • keep me from feeling
C1-C2 sentence structures
  • I would characterize my ... as ..., in the sense that ...
  • Although ..., I tend to ..., especially when ...
  • What makes this sustainable / meaningful is that ...
  • It is less about ... than about ...
Q9 Interview Q2 Preference Speaking Interview
Thank you. Can you describe any dietary choices or habits that you follow to stay healthy? Give details to extend your answer.

C1-C2 Sample Answer
CEFR C1-C2 target
  • Compare options naturally instead of listing them mechanically.
  • Stress the phrase that shows preference or priority.
My main dietary habit is to avoid skipping breakfast. If I start the day with something filling, like eggs, fruit, or oatmeal, I am less likely to buy snacks later. I also try to include vegetables in at least one meal a day, even if the meal itself is not perfectly healthy. I try to make food choices that are nutritionally balanced but still realistic, because overly strict rules usually collapse under daily pressure.
C1-C2 key phrases to imitate
  • nutritionally balanced
  • collapse under daily pressure
  • what I tend to prioritize
  • depending on the situation
  • avoid skipping breakfast
  • something filling
  • less likely to
  • at least one meal a day
C1-C2 sentence structures
  • What I gravitate toward is ..., largely because ...
  • Depending on the situation, I might ..., but generally ...
  • The reason this appeals to me is that ...
  • I would put ... ahead of ... because ...
Q10 Interview Q3 Preference Speaking Interview
Interesting. If you could make one significant change to your diet or exercise routine to stay healthy, what would it be? Why would you make that particular choice?

C1-C2 Sample Answer
CEFR C1-C2 target
  • Build a short narrative or hypothetical with a clear cause-and-effect line.
  • Segment the response into choice, reason, and consequence.
I would add more regular strength training to my routine. I already walk a lot, but I know that building muscle is important for long-term health. I would start with short workouts at home, because if the plan is too complicated, I probably will not keep it up. I would make the change gradually, since a routine that is behaviorally realistic is more likely to last than one based on motivation alone.
C1-C2 key phrases to imitate
  • behaviorally realistic
  • what makes this choice compelling
  • the main obstacle would be

Q11 Interview Q4 Opinion Speaking Interview
Great. Some people believe that mental health is just as important as physical health and should be given equal attention. Do you agree or disagree with this viewpoint? Why?
🎧 Question Audio
C1-C2 Sample Answer
CEFR C1-C2 target
  • Give a nuanced position with concession before your main argument.
  • Use intonation to signal contrast, qualification, and final judgment.
I definitely agree that mental health deserves equal attention. Physical health is easier to see, but stress and anxiety can affect sleep, relationships, and even the ability to study or work. A person who looks healthy may still be struggling, so schools and workplaces should treat mental health as a normal part of wellness. I would take a strong view here: mental health is not separate from physical health; it is one of the conditions that makes healthy living possible.
